Simon Rush - BAppSci, MBA  

Simon worked for 10 years in major metropolitan hospitals as a scientist, administrator and budget manager for Nursing, Psychiatry and Infectious Diseases. He has also contributed to major tenders for the expansion of hospital services at The Alfred.

After leaving the public sector, Simon worked as the Product Manager for Transition within Australia and NZ before leaving to establish SyRis Consulting and develop Adaptive Costing. This outsourced service is now in use at more than 15 metropolitan and rural sites in Victoria

Simon has written and developed a number of clinical decision support systems for clinical costing, pneumonia and stroke management and quality improvement management. He also understands the complex healthcare environment from a number of dimensions and provides consulting services to hospitals and governments.

 


Wayne McKenna - BEc, AsCPA

Wayne was with the Department of Treasury and Finance for 10 years, working in various areas including co-ordination and production of the State Budget, policy development with respect to intergovernmental finances, a stint in the Finance and Liability Management division and GST implementation. He also has 4 years experience with PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Manager in the Indirect Tax practice. This involved providing tax advice (mainly GST) to various Government and private sector clients, including many Hospitals. Services provided included reviewing GST complicance systems, analysis of specific tax implications (for example Rights of Private Practice) and training. Wayne's skills set includes excellent knowledge of Government inter-relationships, good analysis skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to manage complex projects.

 


Lynda Butcher - MAppSc

Lynda has extensive experience in all areas of healthcare.

 


Kathryn Cisera - BAppSci

Kathryn worked for 17 years in major metropolitan hospitals as a Medical Scientist. She has had responsibilities for ordering of products required by the Microbiology Department, updating and maintaining laboratory computer programs, rostering of staff and other administration duties along with the routine duties required by a Grade 2 scientist, including supervision of junior staff.

Kathryn has completed research and has published her findings in Medical Journals. She has good time management skills and is able to meet deadlines easily. She also has excellent communication skills.

Kathryn has been working with SyRis Consulting for 7 years, and in that time has developed good computer skills and a broad knowledge of the Health Care system and government funding models.

Kathryn has assisted with the development of a number of clinical decision support systems for clinical costing, pneumonia and stroke managementand quality improvement management.

 


Cate Harford - BAppSci

Cate has worked within the public health system for 15 years, working in both Bacteriology and Virology laboratories, where she covered all the areas of the laboratories. Her most recent role was being responsible for the day to day running of the Molecular Biology area within the Microbiology laboratory at the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre. She was largely responsible for writing the laboratory manuals to bring them up to a NATA accreditation standard.

Cate has completed research and has presented her findings at international conferences. She has excellent communication skills, and is good at organising workflows to achieve deadlines.

 


Maree Cisera - BAppSci

Maree worked for the Western Healthcare Network for 11 years in various roles from Occupational Therapist to Chief Occupational Therapist and then Project Manager for the Allied Heath IT Project. She transfered to Royal Melbourne hospital to manage the Emergency Department Breakthrough Collaborative in 2000. Maree also worked with Department of Human Services in the capacity of Breakthrough Collaborative Support.

Since leaving public health she has developed “Time to Sign” and has trained a number of parents to use sign language in order to communicate with newborn babies from the age of 4 months onward. Maree has excellent project management skills and a broad understanding of the clinical environment within public health. She has also developed excellent communication and computing skills through managing diverse clinical projects and staff.

 


Catherine McKenna

Catherine worked for National Australia Bank for 12 years in various roles, including customer support, area training and personal banker roles. In her final 5 years with the Bank, she was appointed to various managerial roles, including managing large branches (Queen and Lonsdale Street and the Port Melbourne branches). This managerial role required extensive selling, organisational and staff motivation skills, with 10 staff reporting to her.

She has returned to the workforce in a part time, support consultant role. As well as the skills obtained from her time with the Bank, her skills set includes excellent organising and administration skills and good computer skills

 


Kerrie Frew

Kerrie arrived at Syris after working in fundraising and public affairs at Western Health for 15 months.  Prior to that she managed several small businesses in varying industries concentrating on bookeeping and office managerial roles.

Her role at Syris is as a support consultant in the area of costing. She also assists Wayne with GST consulting. 


Maria Papoulias - BAppSci, Post Grad. - Information Systems Development.

 

Maria is our in house web developer and Joomla legend. She performed most of the configuration and troubleshooting for the GIPSIE CMS and LMS

Maria has 10 years experience in a Microbiology laborotory where she gained knowledge in all the areas relevant to a Grade 1 Scientist, including Mycology and Immunology.

She then moved into Information Technology. Her main experience was gained at Geomatic Technologies (Data Capture and Surveying). Geomatic Technologies provided her with diverse IT experience including database development and design and Internet Application development.  A brief stint at AMCOR packaging furthered her Internet  development experience. Her current IT experience and medical science background, ensures she is yet another valuable asset to SyRis Consulting and the market they serve.
