| Large Scale Facilities versus Community Integrated Generators |

I would like to think that I am a reasonable, pragmatic person, this is why I support community integrated generation and why I am actively working against large scale wind turbine facilities. I support small scale community integrated generation to the extent of becoming an active member of the Woodend Integrated Sustainable Energy group. One of the focusses of this group is to develop a community owned wind park in a community supported area. They also support the purchase of locally generated and identified green power, solar power, solar hot water and energy efficiency. From my perspective, I would like to ensure that the power generated from these turbines is part of an integrated community plan, similar to the work done by Alan Jones in Woking. If this were the case, and if the power generated by the turbines was balanced locally and used locally, with local support and local benefits, then this could actually be beneficial for the community and the environment. I still have not been convinced of the benefit of turbines that are just linked into the grid in the vain hope that the power generated is worthwhile. I also believe that large scale facilities only benefit a few landholders and developers and actually don't do much in the Victorian grid. I would love to be proven wrong, and am actively working to improve my understanding, but until I am proven wrong, I will continue to actively resist large scale facilities and will continue to:
